A piece of California history. The Pacific Ocean Park ( POP ) in Santa Monica was a destination since it opened in 1958 as CBS' answer to Disneyland. The park closed in 1967 and later suffering a series of fires which left it in ruins.
What was once a lighthearted tourist attraction became a gnarly dystopic hangout of the Z Boys, a group of local surfers and skateboarders. The ruins of the pier became an icon of Dogtown.
